Are They CQC Registered and Rated?
All homecare providers in England must be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and submit to regular inspections. Check the provider's CQC rating on the CQC website before anything else. Will You Have Consistent Carers?
Consistency of carer is one of the single most important factors in quality of care — particularly for people with dementia or anxiety. Ask directly: will my loved one see the same carers regularly, or will different people turn up each visit? If the answer is vague, be cautious. Are They Locally Based?
A local, independent provider understands your community, can respond quickly, and is accountable in a way that a large national franchise often is not. Ask whether the management team is based locally and whether you will have a named contact who knows your case. How Do They Handle Problems?

Are They Council Approved?
If the person needing care may be eligible for council funding, check that the provider is an approved provider with the relevant local authority.
